Our Story
I’m Julie, a French mum from Reunion Island with Chinese heritage, and my husband Manu is from Liège in Belgium — the birthplace of the famous Liège waffle. Food plays a central role in all three cultures within our family, and it has always been at the heart of our lives together.
When we became vegan, I started missing some of the food I grew up with — the kind that brings comfort, memories, and joy. I didn’t want to give those up, and I wanted our son to grow up with food that was both delicious and kind.
One thing I really missed was the Liège waffle. In Belgium, it’s a popular street snack — warm, chewy, and caramelised, eaten on the go any time of day. But in South Africa, we couldn’t find anything like it, especially not a vegan version. So I started experimenting in our kitchen, determined to recreate that same taste and texture, without using any animal products.
After six months of testing, tasting, adjusting, and retesting with invaluable feedback from Belgian friends, omnivores, and vegans alike! I finally got it right. I crafted a waffle that got everyone smiling, regardless of their food choices.
Give them a try, and tell me what you think.
“They are absolutely amazing! We went through two packs in a day. I will definitely be ordering some more. Well done, it’s not often that you find an amazing product and great service 😊”

The moment one of our son’s friends quietly stuffed his pockets with waffles before heading home, I knew we’d created something special.
